GeoLimits Consulting is owned and operated by Dr. Alain Murphy. Dr. Murphy, a geologist with over 10 years experience, has participated in Ireland’s two submissions to the CLCS. He was involved in the 2005 partial submission of Ireland and was technical head of the Irish delegation to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf at UN Headquarters, New York. He also was the Irish Technical Lead in the 2006 joint submission of France, Ireland, Spain and the United Kingdom to the Commission. Dr. Murphy is one of a handful of scientific experts who has been in front of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf.
GeoLimits Consulting continuously monitors all matters relating to considerations of the Commission of the Limits of the Continental Shelf, maintains informal contacts with a number of the Commissioners, and observes proceedings regarding current and forthcoming submissions.
GeoLimits Consulting utilises the most up-to-date specialised software (recommends the use of Geocap) and methods in preparing material for a Submission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf. GeoLimits also has a broad range of contacts in the marine science field which may provide technical solutions to the needs of a coastal State.
GeoLimits Consulting provides expert scientific advice to coastal States on many aspects of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and has experience and training on a number of technical aspects of marine policy and law.
